Leica EM ICE High-Pressure Freezer
High-Pressure Freezer Leica
The Leica EM ICE High-Pressure Freezer (HFP) is an advanced, automated high-pressure freezing system that uses a combination of a high-cooling rate via liquid nitrogen with high pressure (~2100 bar) to enable the vitrification and cryo-preservation of samples up to 200µm thick. HPF is the gold-standard for the preservation of biological samples for electron microscopy techniques, allowing samples to be viewed in their native, hydrated state. The rapid speed of HPF freezing allows for the capture of highly dynamic processes with millisecond precision. The EM ICE offers a range of different specimen holder types to accommodate a wide range of sample types and downstream applications, including freeze substitution and cryo-ultramicrotomy.
