Electrical transport

The two Quantum Design PPMS Dynacool instruments are capable of measuring electrical resistivity in longitudinal, transverse (Hall) and van der Pauw configurations. Both PPMS systems are further equipped with an Electrical Transport Option (ETO), which leverages a digital lock-in technique to measure resistances 10 µΩ - 5 GΩ with accuracy as high as ±0.1% at the lower end of the range. Temperature can be varied over the range 0.4 K < T < 400K, and fields can be applied in the range  -90000 Oe < H < 90000 Oe. Samples can be rotated over a 360° range relative to the applied field direction during resistivity measurements.

The QD PPMS Instrument Cart is designed to work with the Quantum Design PPMS and PPMS B instruments and to facilitate user-designed electrical transport measurements. Additional capabilities included high-precision DC resistivity measurements, voltage sourcing/gating, and AC resistance measurements at frequencies up to 10 kHz.
