Paul Braun, Racheff Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Director of the Frederick Seitz Materials Research Lab (MRL) at Illinois, will be adding Materials Research Society (MRS) Fellow to his list of accolades.
This lifetime appointment by the MRS seeks to recognize outstanding members who have made ongoing, distinguished contributions to the advancement of materials research. Professor Braun has been recognized for his influential advances in the synthesis and characterization of 3D nanoscale and mesoscale architectures with new optical, electrochemical, and thermal functionalities.“We are proud to have Paul Braun as a part of the MatSE faculty,” said Willett Professor of Materials Science and Engineering David Cahill, who nominated Braun for the award. “His selection as an MRS Fellow is a well-deserved recognition of his deep scholarship and the importance of his translation work for energy storage, self-healing coatings, and chemical sensing.”
“It gives me great pleasure to let you know that I have been elected to the class of 2018 MRS Fellows,” Braun said. “I can honestly say this was only possible due to the incredible support I have received from the University, the College of Engineering, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the Beckman Institute, the MRL, and the Department of Chemistry from my earliest days as an assistant professor until today.”
Braun will be recognized on April 4 and 5 at the MRS Spring Meeting Awards Presentation.
