Quesant Q-350 AFM

The Ambios/Quesant Q-350 QScope Atomic Force Microscope is a versatile scanning probe system with the capacity for large samples. The typical scan range of this tip-scanning AFM is up to 60 µm × 60 µm with a maximum vertical range of approximately 5 µm. Its large motorized sample stage can accommodate samples up to 5.5" × 5.5" x 1.5" in size.

At MRL, this instrument primarily operates in contact mode, offering a cost-effective solution for AFM-tip-based sample cleaning across a wide range of materials. This process uses the AFM tip to gently remove surface contaminants, oxidized layers, or debris from the top layer, thereby exposing the underlying "fresh" sample surface. For efficiency of tip-based cleaning sessions, probes are pre-mounted by staff to speed up instrument setup.
