Materials Science & Engineering (MatSE) Assistant Professor Qian Chen recently received the Unilever Award, recognizing outstanding young investigators in Colloid & Surfactant Science.

Presented by the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry of the American Chemical Society, this award encourages fundamental work in colloid and/or surfactant science carried out in North America by researchers in the early stages of their careers.

My group’s work on imaging and understanding the equilibrium and non-equilibrium dynamics of nano-sized colloids in artificial and biological systems received recognition for this award, and for that I am glad,” Chen said.

“I am very honored to get this recognition from my peers in the amazing field of colloidal science,” Chen continued. “Members of my group are greatly inspired to continue contributing to the establishments of new techniques and fundamental understandings on colloidal materials.”

Chen will give a plenary talk and receive the physical award at the 92nd ACS Colloid and Surface Science Symposium to be held from June 10-13, 2018 at State College, Pennsylvania.
