Rogers bestowed the 2007 Baekeland Award

Prof. John A. Rogers
John A. Rogers has been selected to receive the 2007 Leo Hendrik Baekeland Award from the North Jersey Section of the American Chemical Society (NJACS). The award is presented biannually to an American chemist under 40 years of age "in recognition of accomplishments in pure or industrial chemistry, as characterized by the initiative, creativeness, leadership, and perseverance of the individual and indicated by published or unpublished evidence".

The award was established in 1944 to commemorate the technical and industrial achievements of Leo Hendrik Baekeland and to encourage younger chemists to emulate his example. Rogers, a Founder Professor of Engineering, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Professor of Chemistry, and MRL Principal Investigator receives a gold medal and honorarium as part of the award, sponsored by the Union Carbide Corporation.
